The Record

'The most participants in a static cycle relay'

To set a NEW Guinness World Record, we need 500+ participants to take turns on a single exercise bike in a continuous relay. We have three days and two nights in Leadenhall Market to achieve this goal and raise over £50,000 for Cancer Research.

Register now, play your part and become a Guinness World Record holder!

It's time for the London Market to unite for a common purpose.

WHY CANCER RESEARCH?

Cancer – a word that strikes fear into the hearts of millions. It's not just a personal battle; it's a collective challenge that touches us all in some way or another.

That's why we've chosen to support Cancer Research – because we believe in the power of collective action to drive meaningful change. Every pound raised brings us closer to groundbreaking treatments, innovative therapies and ultimately, a cure.

Event details

This is an inclusive event and you certainly don’t need to be Bradley Wiggins or Victoria Pendleton to participate. Each cyclist needs to complete a minimum of 1km, which should take less than 3 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Your family, friend, next door neighbour, long lost uncle are all welcome, to set a new Guinness World Record we need a minimum of 500 participants. Please do spread the word as far as possible.

No. However EC3 Relay was created to raise £50,000 for Cancer Research, so we will be asking all participants to donate as much as they can afford to participate.

If you’re one of our day cyclists, we need you on the bike for just 4 minutes. Our battle hardened night riders however will be required to cycle for a 30 mins continuously.

If you really really really can’t make it, please use the cancellation link on your original booking confirmation email to cancel your booking. All cancellations must be made 48hrs prior to your slot.

Once booked, you can’t amend your booking. Please cancel via the cancellation link in your booking confirmation email and make a new booking.

There's no need to set up individual donation pages, we've already done that for you. Please share this website, donations can be made via the 'DONATE' link on the right hand side of the site which will direct you to our dedicated fundraising page.

Yes.

There’s no need to don your lycra and wear a helmet (unless you really feel like it of course). Just come wearing something comfortable to cycle in and ride in to the record books.

Just yourself, deep pocket and bags of enthusiasm! Contactless card machines will be available onsite for you to make your donation.

Assuming we are successful in setting a NEW Guinness World Record, you will receive a certificate to acknowledge the special part you have played in becoming a world record holder.

Support from a great crowd in Leadenhall Market will be ready to cheer you on. You will be required to arrive 15 minutes before your allocated time slot. You will be asked to make your donation. One of our amazing volunteers will let you know when you are about to ride. Be ready to get on the bike as soon as the last rider has got off. You can then cycle at your own pace for your allocated time. You will be told when you need to get off the bike. That’s it!

Anyone over the age of 18 can participate in the event.

Volunteers are needed to help with: • Timekeeping • Registration • Donations using tap and donate machines
